reMade USA’s Process

Posted in reMade USA by Shannon South on November 10, 2010

Every bag we make at reMade USA is made by hand. Patterns have to be altered regularly to work with the cut of the jacket. It is a very thoughtful process and it means that every bag made is unique, beyond the jackets details. I often cannot visualize exactly how it will turn out until it is almost done.

Through this extremely edited-down photo journal, I want people to think about the amount of work that goes into making a bag… or a dress or a pair of jeans for that matter. There are many steps, especially if the piece is not mass produced. No two jackets that I find are alike. Each one must be deconstructed and design decisions must be made.
