Yesterday, I stopped by The Future Perfect on Great Jones Street to see the wonderful world of Donna Wilson, winner of the 2010 British Designer of the Year award. Ms.Wilson creates the most wonderful knitted creatures, as well as textiles, hats, scarves, ceramics, pillows, and furniture. It was all so lovely and the kind of work that brings a smile to your face and just makes you happy.
Annie Leonard of The Story of Stuff has a new film and I couldn’t agree with it more. The electronics industry is so careless. Is it even possible for them to make their parts universal or upgradable and still maintain financial growth when we are so accustomed to equating tangible products and shiny new designs with better?
I’ve found an amazing studio space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, right next to McCarren park. The studio is in a beautiful space owned by artists and filled with vibrant, creative energy. My neighbors include Odette NY jewelry, Wiksten handmade clothes, Fay Andrada handmade jewelry, Nicolette Camille floral design.
